Personal finance content can change household decisions worth lakhs of rupees, so every article on LearnFineEdge is built on sourced, dated, and re-checkable claims. This page describes what we accept as a valid source, how we date our numbers, and how we keep older articles accurate as Indian tax rules, interest rates, and regulator guidance evolve.
What counts as a primary source on this site
We treat the following as primary sources and link to them whenever a specific number, rule, or threshold appears in an article:
- Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) circulars and FAQs for market, F&O, mutual fund, REIT, and investment adviser rules.
- Reserve Bank of India (RBI) notifications, monetary policy statements, and the Database on Indian Economy for repo rates, CPI, and banking regulation.
- Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for life insurance, health insurance, surrender value norms, and product approvals.
- Income Tax Department of India, Central Board of Direct Taxes circulars, the official ITR utility, and Section-wise reading of the Income Tax Act for tax-related claims.
- Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) for NPS Tier 1, NPS Vatsalya, and Atal Pension Yojana mechanics.
- Press Information Bureau (PIB) releases for budget announcements and scheme launches.
- Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) data for NAVs, scheme categorisation, and industry inflow statistics.
- National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE for contract specifications, lot sizes, expiry days, and historical TRI data.
- India Post and India Post Payments Bank for PPF, SSY, KVP, and RD rules.
- Insurer, bank, and AMC official sites for product-level pricing, charges, and exclusions.
What we treat as secondary or unsupported
Aggregator sites, comparison portals, Quora threads, social-media screenshots, anonymous forum posts, and AI-generated rate tables are not sources. They may be useful as starting points for research, but every number that appears in a published article must be re-verified against a primary source listed above before it goes live.
How we date numbers and rules
Every article that contains rates, slabs, or regulator-specific figures includes the financial year or the date of the regulator notice in the body, so the reader can judge whether the claim still applies. For example, “as per the Section 87A rebate for FY 2026-27” rather than “currently”. Articles that depend on tax slabs are reviewed each year between February and April after the Union Budget cycle, so the slab references move forward in step with the law.
Internal verification before publish
Before any tax, insurance, F&O, NPS, crypto, or banking-rule article goes live, the author runs through a six-step internal check:
- Every number in the article has a primary-source link or an in-line citation.
- The relevant financial year or notification date is present in the body.
- Any claim about regulator action is matched to a SEBI, RBI, IRDAI, or PFRDA URL.
- Comparisons against rival products quote each product’s own official documentation, never a third-party comparison page alone.
- Statements about “guaranteed” returns, “best” funds, or “highest” yields are removed unless we can attribute them to a regulator-approved disclosure.
- The article is paused for at least one calendar day between the draft and publish steps so a fresh re-read catches errors that a same-day review misses.
How readers can flag a fact-check concern
Send the URL of the article and a brief description of the disputed claim to our Contact page. We acknowledge fact-check submissions within 48 hours and respond with an outcome (confirmed, corrected, or under review) within seven working days. Material corrections are logged on the Corrections Policy page.
Periodic re-review schedule
Articles on the following topics are re-reviewed on a fixed cadence, even when no reader has flagged them:
- Tax-slab and tax-regime articles: April each year (post-budget enactment).
- NPS, PPF, SSY, KVP rate-dependent articles: every quarter when the small-savings rate notification is issued.
- F&O contract-specification articles: when SEBI revises lot sizes or expiry calendars.
- Insurance product articles: when IRDAI updates surrender value norms or product approvals.
- Crypto VDA articles: when CBDT issues fresh FAQs or the Finance Bill changes Section 115BBH.
Limits we acknowledge
Tax law and regulator guidance change between the date we publish an article and the date you read it. Where a discrepancy exists, the primary source we link to takes precedence over our prose. If you spot a divergence, please reach out and we will update.
